I feel so relieved now that I've come upon a great revelation. A tremendous weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and last night I had the best sleep I've had in a long time.

I feel so content right now. I'm starting a new chapter in my life.

But it's-...I mean- uh...oh, hell, there's no refuting this!

Soft Drinks May Seriously Fuck You Up

A new health scare erupted over soft drinks last night amid evidence they may cause serious cell damage. Research from a British university suggests a common preservative found in drinks such as Fanta and Pepsi Max has the ability to switch off vital parts of DNA.

The problem - more usually associated with ageing and alcohol abuse - can eventually lead to cirrhosis of the liver and degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's.

The findings could have serious consequences for the hundreds of millions of people worldwide who consume fizzy drinks. They will also intensify the controversy about food additives, which have been linked to hyperactivity in children.

Concerns centre on the safety of E211, known as sodium benzoate, a preservative used for decades by the £74bn global carbonated drinks industry. Sodium benzoate derives from benzoic acid. It occurs naturally in berries, but is used in large quantities to prevent mould in soft drinks such as Sprite, Oasis and Dr Pepper. It is also added to pickles and sauces.

Sodium benzoate has already been the subject of concern about cancer because when mixed with the additive vitamin C in soft drinks, it causes benzene, a carcinogenic substance. A Food Standards Agency survey of benzene in drinks last year found high levels in four brands which were removed from sale.

I'll spare anyone that reads this an incessant rant about my older brother. Suffice it to say, I spent over 5 hours helping him move to Burlington yesterday and didn't get so much as a 'thank-you'. I wasn't even going to get a meal until Danny Tanner asked for pizza in a rather conniving way (my brother had gone to A&W before getting to Burlington -"Oh. You're hungry? Me, I'm stuffed. I shouldn't have had that extra teen burger"). Ok, I lied, there was a rant...but it wasn't incessant. I'm all about roundabout sentences, aren't I?

Afterwards, we picked up sheets of drywall and I had some fun riding on one of those huge carts like a jackass(what's a guy to do?). Then it was on to moving a few things to my apartment, and having someone trying to squeeze into the elelator despite it being...well, full of my stuff and all.

And now for something completely different. A pigeon with bling on its ankles:

First off, there's this song on the radio I keep hearing that angers me. Part of the lyrics are

"My girl's in the next room,
Sometimes I wish she was you"

It's a sign of the times, I suppose, but really, what kind of nonsense is this? Instead of writing a song about how he's not faithful to his 'girl' he writes a lovesong to someone else, regretting being 'stuck' with his current significant other.

On a lighter note, next time I go to the Falls could someone, oh I don't know, actually tell me we're going to the Falls before I leave? That way when I'm surrounded by picturesque moments I can take pictures. Really a shame. Actually...what's a real shame was not being able to snap a pic of the pickup on the QEW with two onions dangling from the gate to look like a ballsack.

Sean gave me a pretty good guitar lesson today. I can't believe how good he's gotten.

So I woke up to find the Senators leading the hockey game last night. No offense to any Devils fans(:D), but I can't wait for another exciting Buffalo-Ottawa series.

Unfortunately Detroit won yesterday, and don't get me wrong, they're exciting in their own right, but it's time to see some new blood in the finals. I was getting used to the last two cup winners not being Detroit and New Jersey. On that note, I noticed that Pavel Datsyuk has an irregularly shaped head. So irregular he reminds me of Pyramid Head from Silent Hill.

You be the judge:

The Sabres-Rangers game had a fantastic finish to it last night. Drury, you are Mr. Clutch. Here's to hoping the Habs sign him in the summer (yeah right).

A lot of people happen to be wondering why the Sabres' offense seems so anemic lately. I think it can be prettymuch summed up as head coach Lindy Ruff's appetite getting the better of him. Specifically, his affinity for fresh-baked pies. It's an uncommon trend in the NHL but one that seems to be gaining steem (no pun intended -well...maybe), and that trend is to sit hot, fresh pie in your lap while sitting behind the opposing team's bench. It seems to be the ultimate distraction.

Don't believe me? Here's a pic from early in the season in Chicago, where the trend seems to have started:

As for Lindy Ruff, I happen to know it works on him too because yours truly smuggled an easy-bake oven into the Bell Centre during a Canadiens home game against Buffalo.
